Flights & Transport |
Airlines and Airports The most convenient airport is Naples International. Flights can be more expensive to Naples because of its proximity to the Amalfi coast. British Airways, Monarch, BMI, First Choice and EasyJet fly directly in and out of Naples from London & provincial airports . The alternative is to fly to Rome using a low cost airline, RyanAir) and then catch an InterCity or EuroStar train to Agropoli, (3˝-4 hours). We have used both routes—please ask for details. |
Buses For some unknown reason, bus timetables are almost a state secret. We supply some timetables ourselves and can obtain others for you. You must buy a ticket from a paper shop or tobacconist before boarding the bus! Like most continental countries, you buy journey times. If you are going to be a regular bus user, buy the tickets in bunches. You validate the ticket on the bus with a time stamping machine located on a vertical rail just inside the bus entrance. (see guide) |
Local Trains Tickets are available from tobacconists and paper shops and can be used for TRAIN & BUS purposes. The validation machines are yellow devices on platforms that date and time stamp your ticket. The local station is Agropoli, approx 15 minutes by taxi to Castellabate. We can supply local train time tables—please ask. |

Car Hire from Naples airport or locally. We have a guide for car hire. Local rates can be lower than those from cities or airports. |
Taxis are available and we can supply details. In Naples, there are fixed fares from airport to railway station or port. Only travel in registered taxis in Naples. |
Ferries from Naples and Salerno only July-August. During the whole year, ferries from Salerno amble along the Amalfi coast, calling in at Maiori, Positano and Capri. |
